Student Achievements

 

Boibhav Kashyap

Sabir Hussain, B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering, 7th semester, appeared for the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning Examination, conducted by the 7 IITs and IISC Bengaluru, and scored an overall 92% in the course of "THERMODYNAMICS".
This course had been carried out by Prof. S.K Som and Dr. Suman Chakraborty from IIT Kharagpur. Sabir is certified with the tag "ELITE + GOLD" from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) for securing a position among the top 1% of the toppers.

 

Rahul Dhar VII Semester, B.Tech CSE student, and President, Entrepreneurship Club, has been selected for the Teach For India 2019-2021 Fellowship programme.
Rahul is one of three students from the North East who have been selected into the programme, out of more than 240 applicants. He will be placed in Ahmedabad.

 

Boibhav Kashyap

Boibhav Kashyap III Semester Integrated BSW-MSW, School of Social Sciences, has successfully completed an internship with the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship programme in June-July 2018. As a part of the internship, Boibhav worked in several awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives and also worked on Biogas projects in Rangdhali Gaon, Dakhin Gurjogania, Golaghat, Assam.

 

Ms. Upasha Sharma, PhD. student, Department of Physics, got an opportunity to visit the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Bhat, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, for a period of 3 weeks and 5 days during September 2018. During the visit, Upasha has been working with Prof. R. Ganesh of IPR, to learn MD Simulation, Python as well as non-equilibrium statistical mechanics of Langevin systems.
Upasha Sharma is also a JRF at the Department's ongoing BRNS sanctioned project entitled “A First-Principle Numerical Simulation of the Strongly Coupled Multi-Ion Plasma in the Presence of an External Magnetic Field”, No. 39/14/25/2016-BRNS/34014, Dated 03/04/2017, Principal Investigator: Dr. Swati Baruah.

 

Sabir Hussain, VII semester, B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, published a paper titled "Pitch Angle Optimization of Small Low Speed Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine" in the Imperial International Journal of Eco-friendly Technologies, ISIE-INDIA (National Youth Award Winner 2015-16, Ministry of Youth Affirs, Govt. of INDIA).
This paper was written under the guidance of Dr. Ramesh Chandra Borah, Assistant Professor (ME) and was published on 1st August, 2018.
ISIE-INDIA is the most popular and favourite E-mobility Motorsports, Education and Research Publication organisation in India among engineering institutes and green energy research organisation. ISIE-INDIA become the epicenter of green energy concept development in India.

Alumnus Rohit Gautam, MSc Physics, Class of 2016, cleared the NE-SLET examination in Physics in 2018. Rohit is currently pursuing an M.Tech in Exploration Geophysics at Dibrugarh University.

 

CSE 6th semester student Mr. Taru Tabyo is selected for 2 months internship(20.06.18 to 24.08.18) at National Informatics Centre(NIC) Headquarter Delhi under Digital India Internship scheme. He is selected through faculty recommendation and rigorous selection process through Skype. He is currently doing internship at the Data Analytics division of NIC. During his internship he will receive 10000/- stipend per month.

 

Choman Pegu, BSW VI Semester, School of Social Sciences, has been accepted into Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, for the MA in Dalit and Tribal Studies programme (2018). TISS is Asia’s oldest institute for Professional Social Work education and was founded in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.

 

Dipangkur Dutta, BTech Electrical Engineering, Batch of 2013, GATE (AIR 6539). B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Batch of 2013, has cleared the2018 GATE exams.This is what our proud alumnus had to say:"All the achievements in life come from hard work and inspirations. I take pride in saying that I did not come this far from my own efforts but with the help of my talented faculty members who continuously stood by me during the most trying times of my career. I remember the day when I joined KU, made new friends, new roommates. We enjoyed to the fullest by playing cricket in our campus ground, late night 'addas' and many more! My department, my classmates - We share a great and amazing bonding and KU has given me some best memories to be cherished. Kaziranga University Alumnus Anurag Dutta qualified for the CSIR NET (LS) 2018, with an All India Rank of 31. He had also topped the NE SLET in 2017.
Anurag Dutta obtained his MSc degree in Chemistry from Kaziranga University, Class of 2015.

Kaziranga University is proud to announce that Sanjib Sarmah, a student ofMSc Chemistry II Sem has been selected for the prestigious Science Academies' Summer Research Fellowship (SRFP) for Students and Teachers 2018. Sanjib is the third student of Kaziranga University's School of Basic Sciences to have received this fellowship. He will be placed at NEIST, Jorhat and working under the guidance of Dr. Manash R. Das.

 

Bhairabi Nandini Kaushik, MSW IV Semester, School of Social Sciences, has been selected as a Teach For India fellow for their 2-year programme starting from June 2018. Bhairabi will be placed in Hyderabad.

 

Abdul Shabir, MSc Physics III Semester, has been selected for the Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) Research Fellowship to carry out his research work for a period of three months at the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Bhat, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, starting December 2017. During the period Abdul will work under Dr. S.K Pathak, Senior Scientist, IPR.

 

Abhinav Saikia, a 7th Semester Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student of Kaziranga University, got selected for the MFA (Master of Fine Arts) program in Filmmaking at the prestigious New York Film Academy, based in New York City.
The New York Film Academy is considered one of the best hands-on film schools in the world and offers a range of programs including filmmaking, screenwriting, acting, producing, documentary, game design, animation, photography and musical theatre. Abhinav will join the two year program at the NYFA in August 2018.

 

Ritika Bashistha and Bhagyashree Rajbonshi of M.Sc. Physics, Class of 2017, have cleared the entrance examination for M.Tech Exploration Geophysics, conducted by Dibrugarh University. Ritika Basistha has outshone the competition by securing the top position in the exam. Congratulations!

 

KU is proud of alumnus Anurag Dutta for topping the SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) 2017. Anurag obtained his MSc degree in Chemistry from Kaziranga University, Class of 2015, and is currently pursuing a PhD from Tezpur University.

 

Lisamoni Kalita, MSc Chemistry, Class of 2016, has received the DST Inspire Fellowship 2017, offered to first rank holders for pursuing Doctoral studies in Science and Technology by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Lisa will be pursuing a PhD at CSIR-NEIST, under Dr. L Saikia, Department of Material Sciences and Technology. Congratulations, Lisa!

 

Kaziranga University is proud of B.Tech students Animesh Sarmah and Rashmi Sarmah, Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), whose paper titled 'A Brief Study on Cyber Crime and Cyber Laws of India', was published in the International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET).
This paper was written under the guidance of Mr. Amlan Jyoti Baruah, Assistant Professor, CSE. and was published in the June 2017 issue of the journal, Issue 6 Volume 4

 

Swagata Bardoloi, CSE, has been selected for the Master Of Business Administration Programme in Entrepreneurship, at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, with a 30% fellowship. Congratulations, Swagata!

 

Nisha Maheswari, M.Com, 4th semester, Class of 2017 batch, has successfully qualified the UGC NET in Commerce. The exam was held on 22nd January 2017. Congratulations Nisha!

 

Gourav Kumar Boruah, VIII Semester, ECE, has been selected for the MSc programme in Data Analytics at the National College of Ireland, Dublin.

NCI has been ranked for the fourth year in a row, Best for Jobs in the Sunday Times University Guide 2015, and has also been awarded the AHECS gradireland gold award for employability in 2014. Congratulations, Gourav!

 

Kaziranga University is proud of CSE VIII Semester student Manasjyoti Bhuyan, who has been admitted into the Master of Science programme in Computer Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, starting in September 2017. Politecnico di Milano was ranked the best for Engineering and is among the top universities in Italy. Congratulations Manas!

 

Amrita Hazarika, Civil Engineering, Class of 2016, has been selected for the M.Sc. in Structural Engineering programme at the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands. Amrita was guided by Dr. Nabajyoti Saikia, who assisted her in the preparation of three research proposals necessary for selection.

TU Delft is considered to be among the world's most prestigious Universities of Engineering and Technology. It is currently ranked number 2 in the world for its Civil and Structural Engineering programmes. Admission into TU Delft is highly competitive, and KU is very proud of Amrita for her achievement. Partha Boruah, an MSc 4th semester student, Department of Physics, School of Basic Sciences, has received the Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) fellowship for UG / PG students for a period of 3 months starting from January 2017. Under this fellowship, he is presently working on his MSc project at the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, under the guidance of Dr. S. K. Pathak (external supervisor) and Dr. Swati Baruah (Internal Supervisor) of Department of Physics, Kaziranga university.

 

Congratulations to Banashree Gogoi, 4th Semester, MSc. Chemistry student from the School of Basic Sciences, who has been accepted into the PhD program at the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology, University of New Mexico, United States, with a full 5-year fellowship starting August 2017!

 

Ridip Deka, a student of MSc Physics, II Semester, School of Basic Sciences, has been selected for the prestigious Indian Academy of Sciences Summer Fellowship. He will be undertaking his summer internship at the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. Congratulations, Ridip!
