Kaziranga University Winter Festival 2016 Concluded

With a great anticipation from the people of North-Eastern India, especially the youth, Kaziranga University Winter Festival 2.0, the annual festival of Kaziranga University which was held from 7th January to 10th January 2016, concluded with a musical note by musical sensation Zubeen Garg & Zublee Baruah and a thunderous performance by DJ Amar to wrap up the show at the concluding day of the Kaziranga Winter Festival 2016. The supposedly 3 day long festival got an additional day as rain and thunderstorm halted few programmes on the 9th January 2016, therefore the continuation of the concluding ceremony was held on 10th January 2016.

The festival kicked off by an inaugural ceremony on 7th January 2016, as Shri. M.D.Khetan, Hon’ble Chancellor, Kaziranga University inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonious lamp and release of colourful gas balloons in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Kaziranga University who delivered the Welcome Address. Various VIPs and dignitaries like Major General Rajiv Mishra, VSM, GOC, 41 Army sub area; Deputy Brigadier R.K. Gupta, GOC, 41 Army sub area; DIGP CRPF, Brigadier Sushil Kumar; Professor Jugal Kumar Kalita, Professor of the Department of Computer Science, University of Colorado USA; Shri. Satpal Kapoor, IGP, CRPF, OPS, Sector Jorhat, and other dignitaries graced the 4 days long festival and motivated the student community to not only succeed in their professional career but also strive to become responsible citizens.

The main attractons of the entire festival were Musical night by bollywood singer KK, Zubeen Garg & Zublee Baruah, Adam’s Apple (Rock band), DJ Amar. The festival also witnessed the Grand Finale of “Sing With Stars”, a singing talent hunt show, by Kaziranga University. The top 10 finalists of the “Sing with the Stars” competed live to get the decisive winners. The top 3 winners of Sing With Stars are INDRANI TALUKDAR 1st Position, PRATYAKSHI KALITA 2nd Position and MAYURPONGKHI CHETIA 3rd Position. The judgement was passed by a jury of noted singers and musicians of the Assamese music industry like Diganta Bharati, J P Das, Bhupen Uzir, Santa Uzir, Amarjyoti Deka, Dipak Talukdar and Jayanta Nath. The prize distribution ceremony was a memorable moment for the winners who received the certificates and prizes from the Hon’ble Chief Guest present at the ceremony, amidst huge accolades and admiration from the audience.

The festival also showcased the KTM Duke Stunt show which was an instant hit among the youth. The young audience applauded with raised heartbeats the impressive stunts by professional stuntmen’s. The event was a package of entertainment with a blend of fashion, dance and melody. It also featured the final round for “Moksh Mantra” (A rock singing competition). This was followed by “Winter Runway” (Fashion Show) which was highly applauded by the fashion devotees.

The curtains fell on 10th January 2016 as the festival concluded on a musical note. The stage was set on fire by Zubeen Garg and Zublee Baruah and the crowd was highly overwhelmed by their performance as the entire audience community started singing in chorus to the tune of these stars. It was a delightful scene to watch and experience. This was followed by a thunderous performance by DJ Amar who set the audience into madness with its rocking playlist.

Overall, the 4 day long festival was a jackpot of variety of events at multiple locations within the University campus as students from various colleges and universities participated in different competitions like Technova (Tech Fest), Sports Events, Gaming, Rock Concerts, Photography Competitions, Cultural Events, Fashion Show, Fest Litteraire. These events were specially designed for students of Northeast to gain the true spirit of studentship and also to facilitate social engagement, artistic exploration and personal growth. Thus, the 4day long festival concluded with tired bodies but refreshed souls only to get ready for the next year’s edition of the Kaziranga University Winter Festival 2017.

2nd Convocation of KAZIRANGA UNIVERSITY Celebrating Achievement, Celebrating Knowledge and Beyond

Kaziranga University, one of North East India’s premier Private University providing Educational Excellence, promoted by the North Eastern Knowledge Foundation (NEKF), is eld its 2nd Convocation on November 28, 2015. The event was graced by Shri Murli Dhar Khetan, Hon’ble Chancellor of the University; Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Padma Shri, Chairman ISRO; Ustad Amzad Ali Khan, Padma Vibhushan, renowned Sarod Maestro.

The welcome address was delivered by Shri Sunil Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University. Shri Murli Dhar Khetan, Hon’ble Chancellor of the University will deliver the Inaugural Address and preside over the Convocation and confer the degrees. The Convocation address was delivered by Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Padma Shri, Chairman ISRO. Ustad Amzad Ali Khan, Padma Vibhushan, renowned Sarod Maestro also delivered the Inspirational Address.

This significant day marked the Graduation Ceremony of 120 KU students who received their graduating certificates and medals including – 26 students of MBA; 21 students of MSc.(Chemistry); 29 students of BBA; 10 students of MSc.(Physics); 4 students of MSc.(IT); 2 students of MTech(Thermal Engineering) and 28 students of BCom.

On this day Kaziranga University conferred two Honorary Doctorates. One, to Ustad Amzad Ali Khan , Padma Vibhushan, renowned Sarod Maestro for his phenomenal contributions towards the Indian culture and music. Born on 9th October, 1945 at a place called Gwalior located in Madhya Pradesh, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is undisputed master of the music world. He is a man who needs no introduction and known as a distinguished maestro in the field of playing Sarod.

And the other Honorary Doctorate was conferred to Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, Padma Shri , Chairman ISRO for his unmatched contributions in Indian Space Engineering Programmes. A Padma Shri awardee, Kiran Kumar joined ISRO in 1975. He is a distinguished space Scientist and credited with the development of key scientific instruments aboard the Chandrayan-1 and Mangalyaan space craft.

Known as the TCS-ION Campus, Kaziranga University has created a benchmark of excellence in providing industrial based educational interface for Engineering and Management students through its technological domain partners like CMS, Multisoft Systems, etc with proven placement track record.
