Indian IETF Capacity Building Program at Kaziranga University

Kaziranga University hosted the Indian Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Capacity Building Program held at the university campus on 28 Feb 2016. The Program was conceived by the Internet Society (ISOC) Kolkata Chapter and approved by DeitY, Government of India. The event was attend by Dr. Mr. Abhijan Bhattacharjee of TCS Innovation Lab Kolkata; Mr. Anand Raje VP-Membership ISOC Kolkata Chapter; Dr. Indrajit De, IICB Program Chair. The event was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Dr. Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Mishra, President, North Eastern Knowledge Foundation and other dignitaries and faculties of the University. Dr. Indrajit De, IICB Program Chair said “It is important to generate awareness about IETF because IETF generates and governs Internet Protocols”. He further added that the capacity building program is specially designed to focus more on creating new internet development by understanding what internet protocols are. Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Abhijan Bhattacharjee, the key note speaker for the program said “The Indian IETF Capacity Building (IICB) Program is an attempt to increase the lower participation of Indians, corporate in the International Internet standard making process and specifically in IETF with an objective to empower Internet professionals by broadening their experience and enabling their participation in open Internet standards development.” He also spoke about providing opportunities for Fellows to participate in the global Internet ecosystem and to interact and engage with the broader Internet engineering community. Kaziranga University is leading the effort to provide the students of School of Computing Sciences (SCS) and the School of Engineering Technology (SET) a platform to help its students understand the importance of Internet protocols. The university has organized this program with a motive to attempt to increase participation of its students in the International Internet standard making process with an objective to empower them by broadening their experience and enabling their participation in open Internet standards development.
