A Legal Aid Clinic was launched in the Kaziranga University campus today on 24th January 2019, which aims to provide pro bono legal assistance to one and all. This unit will provide a consultation program through which clients will receive legal advice from attorneys and an in-house aid program through which selected cases will be taken up in litigation.

Shri Basant Kumar Khetan, Hon'ble Pro-Chancellor, Kaziranga University and Shri V. K. Chandak, Hon’ble District & Session Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Service Authority
inaugurated the Legal Aid Clinic at Kaziranga University, jointly with Smt. N. A. Ahmed, Ld Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jorhat. The inaugural function was attended and addressed by the Chief Guests.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Shri V. K. Chandak, Hon’ble District & Session Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Service Authority and Smt. N. A. Ahmed, Ld Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jorhat.

Prof Tarun Kumar, Registrar of Kaziranga University and Dean School Of Social Sciences Dr. Braja Sundar Mishra also addressed the gathering, which was followed by an interactive session attended by faculty and students. The programme was coordinated by Assistant Professors Ms. Madhurika Khetan and Mr. Shankarjyoti Saikia.
