The national workshop on 'Advances in Civil Engineering' (ACE 2018) was conducted successfully by the Department of Civil Engineering, Kaziranga University on 26th-27th of September. The workshop commenced with the inaugural speeches from Dr Sudip Basack, HOD CE, Dr P K Mishra, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, KU, and Dr P K Khound, HOD CE JEC. In the technical sessions of this workshop, there were eminent speakers like Dr. Atanu Dutta, Er. J.N. Khatanair, Dr. Sudip Basack, Mr. Baharul Hussain and Dr. Arup Bhattacharjee. Dr. Atanu Dutta spoke about rapid visual screening of buildings in Gujarat after the 2001 Bhuj Earth Quake. Next speech was given by Er. J.N. Khatanair, he spoke about national building code and construction bye laws, followed by a video presentation on earthquake preparedness and then on Subansari river dam. On the second day First half, a local site visit was arranged for the final year students, who were taken to selected construction sites of Er. J.N. Khatnair. In the second half of the workshop, Mr. Baharul Hussain spoke about modern structural engineering software. Finally we had Dr. Arup Bhattachrjee's speech on soil liquefaction. With this, the Workshop concluded.
