Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development of any country. They have become even more important given the increasing pace of globalization and technological changes. People with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of globalization. As India is moving towards becoming a hub for ‘Knowledge Economy’, it becomes increasingly important that the country as a whole should focus on advancement of skills, and these skills have to be relevant to the emerging economic environment.
India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The Country’s economy has been growing robustly in the last couple of decades. At Present the Country is experiencing massive growth in all most all sectors. As a result, the demand for workforce has also grown rapidly. Majority of our population are unskilled or semi-skilled, and hence are not able to reap the benefits of country’s economic growth despite a huge demand for skilled manpower in almost all sectors. To bridge this demand-supply gap of skilled workforce, the Central and State Governments are encouraging series of skill training programmes through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and various other agencies/ministries.
With the common vision of bridging the employability gap of the young people to leverage the demographic dividend and to make the country’s economic growth inclusive Kaziranga University and IL&FS Skills have entered into an agreement to impart high quality training in various short-term and certificate courses across various sectors for enhancing employability of the youth from North-East.
The vision is to gradually scale up the institute to a Community College Model under the MHRD framework.
Currently the training programmes are running under two schemes:
