Sociology is the scientific study of humans in association with social relationships and structure. Like biologists and other natural scientists, sociologists work by a set of rules through which they evaluate the arguments and evidences generated by empirical research. This does not mean sociological work is either narrow or lacking in practical significance. Sociology involves the observation and explanation of human behavior in a wide range of areas. In addition to this, sociology studies the socio-psychological, legal, professional and organizational structures. Study of rural, urban, industry, politics, gender, crime, etc. are some of the important fields of sociology. Sociologists study society and social behavior by examining the groups, cultures, organizations, social institutions, and processes that people develop.
The program enables one to understand the various sub-systems working in society and the social relationships that exist among the members of society.
After successful completion of this program, students will have learnt how to analyze data and other information and communicate the same to various stakeholders. They will be able to critically analyze every situation, devise creative solutions and draw logical conclusions. Last but not the least, they will be equipped with problem solving skills.
