Exhibition Theme: Sustainable and Inclusive Development Solutions- the North-Eastern Region (NER)

Prof. A K Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser, Govt of India, Dr. V K Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog, and Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University

Sustainability is development that satisfies the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations, guaranteeing the balance between economic growth, care for the environment and social well-being. It was recognized that while the United Nation’s 2030-agenda provide a broad framework for achieving global sustainable development, sustainable and inclusive development needed to be addressed at local levels, with unique local challenges and aspirations. This is particularly true for the North-East. Therefore, an annual event named North East Sustainable and Inclusive Development (NESID) was launched in 2017. The NESID-22 aims to continue this series, and to highlight India’s North-East as a critical hotspot for the convergence of sustainable development with women empowerment and skill building, leading to the overall holistic growth and progress of the region, with emphasis on food, energy and inclusive health.
