On 28th February 2019, The School of Basic Sciences (SBS), Kaziranga University celebrated National Science Day amidst the esteemed faculty members and the students of all streams of the school. National science day is celebrated across the country in order to pay tribute to Sir C.V Raman for his discovery, which is popularly known as the 'Raman Effect'.

Exhibitions of scientific documentary, extempore speeches and a Science Quiz Competition were conducted among the students on the theme 'Science for the People People for the Science'. On the occasion, Professor Tarun Kumar, Registrar, addressed the gathering, urging them to improve their scientific knowledge and skills to get maximum benefits for self and the society. The Dean of SBS, Dr. Jayanta K. Sarmah briefed the students about the significance of the day and the role of teachers and students towards the growth of science and technology in the country, while Prof. Sanjan Hazarika enlightened the gathering with the significance of the theme.
